elegant_3403As part of the many cities of Orange County encouraging their residents to decorate for the holidays, Mission Viejo residents came up to the plate and shared, and continue to share the holiday spirit by competing in the annual Holiday Lighting Contest, that has been hosted for over 30 years by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee.
This year, the neighborhoods and homes competed in:

• Ever “Green” (for using environmentally friendly LED lights) 
• Through a Child’s Eyes (for delighting children of all ages) pictured below
• Reason for the Season (for memorable manger scenes)
• Creative Inflatables (for using inflatables of all shapes and sizes)
• Traditionally Elegant - pictured to the right  (for gorgeous lights, greenery, elegant holiday style) 
• Light

Underwater homeowners, as of two days ago and some others starting today, got an early Christmas present this year as two of the largest mortgage servicers, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, decided to pause with evictions and auctions of homes in foreclosure during the holiday season. From the third week of December, the repossession process will be temporarily suspended until the start of the new year. 

During the holiday reprieve, no homeowners will be evicted. However, the moratorium will not halt pre- and post-foreclosure business, such as a filing defaults and scheduling auctions.

“We’re taking this step in support of families who have faced financial challenges and gone through a foreclosure,” said Fannie Mae spokesperson Terry Edwards in a statement.

boat_parade_300Many events are going on in our beautiful South Orange County area this weekend.

For starters, don't forget this Friday and Saturday December 14th and 15th at the Dana Point Harbor, the beautiful Boat Parade of Lights continues. This is a gorgeous display of lights and Saturday will be the last day, make sure not to miss it! Dress warm, bring some hot drinks and enjoy! The Parade can be seen anywhere in the Harbor.

On Friday December 14th there's also:

Parade of Lights Holiday Cruise with KSBR from the Ocean Institute: from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

The Ocean Institute will present a Parade of Lights Holiday Cruise with Jazz! FM 88.5 KSBR radio on Friday, December 14th at 7pm - 9pm. Participants can enjoy Christmas cheer and listen to Christmas music
