It's hard to believe that is has been 29 years since the Ocean Institute first celebrated the first Toshiba Tall Ships Festival in Dana Point. This is a beautiful event for those boat lovers and kids, as everyone gets to see and explore real working tall ships. 

There's plenty of activities planned, including:

  • Interactive living-history encampments  and demonstrations
  • Knot tying races
  • Great returning and new musical and dance acts for all ages
  • Ship tours
  • Friendly 'Pirate School': walk and sing like a pirate!
  • Art and the Sea workshop series

The Elephant Parade’s first ever appearance in the United States after successful appearances across the globe, including London, Milan, Amsterdam and many more, will begin at Doheny State Beach over the weekend of August 23rd – 25th where the entire “herd” will be on display. After this weekend, these colorfully painted art pieces will be scattered to various locations in Dana Point.

So what should we expect? There's going to be dozens of hand-painted, life-size baby elephant sculptures on display at Doheny State Beach. These beauiful art pieces were colorfully decorated by acclaimed artists, iconic celebrities and local talent, all to save a species now threatened with extinction. The 4th Annual Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club's Dana Point Lobster Fest Saturday, Aug 24, 2013 at 4pm at Doheny State Beach is going to once again be the party at the beach that you won’t want to miss this summer!
