Easter Egg Hunting is coming up and with that in mind, here's a few local 'hunt's happening around town. Also, in celebration of spring, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel introduces four incredible, non-edible Easter eggs, each individually painted by a local artist including Trevor Mezak, James Galindo, Robin Hiers, and Kym de los Reyes. The enormous hand crafted eggs are a “must see” and make the perfect backdrop for a springtime family portrait. The festivities kick off with the annual Whale Parade - on March 4th, starting at 10am. The parade embraces the Festival’s theme of Magical Migration with parade floats and entries decorating in an ocean/whale theme and costumes. Giant helium parade balloons of a Blue Whale, Orca and many other sea life creatures fill the air over head during the parade. The parade promptly begins at 10:00 AM with a route along Pacific Coast Highway beginning at Selva Road and ending at Golden Lantern in Dana Point, approximately 1 mile.
The Ocean Institute turns 40 this year so we hope you will help us celebrate with two nights of exciting musical entertainment from Michael Paulo, Ray Parker, Jr., Gregg Karukas, and Kevin Toney! The event started in 2003 and has raised more than $1 million for the nonprofit Ocean Institute’s educational programs, which include maritime history, ocean education and marine science. Los Angeles Lakers executive and co-owner Jim Buss has added another piece to his personal roster, buying an ocean-view spot in Dana Point for $2.915 million.
The approximately quarter-acre lot sits behind gates at the Strand at Headlands, a development of luxury custom homes and sites above the beach in Dana Point. The property adjoins a half-acre lot that is also owned by the Lakers vice president of basketball operations, public records show.

There's a handful of wonderful Holiday Events starting this weekend ( check our prior post on the San Clemente acivities for Saturday December 3rd). This one here is one of the top ones in Orange County: the 42nd Annual Boat Parade of Lights in Dana Point. The event will take place on December 9, 10, 16 and 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m. On each evening of the parade, OC Parks will host free festive family activities throughout Mariner’s Village, Mariner’s Alley and Dana Wharf beginning at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be available at the Doheny State Beach lot for $2 per hour.
