The 59th Swallows Day Parade and Mercado Street Faire will be held on March 25, 2017. The Swallows Day Parade is part of the much larger Fiesta de las Golondrinas or Festival of the Swallows. The Fiesta de las Golondrinas is tied to the return of the swallows to the Mission San Juan Capistrano on St. Joseph's Day. The fame of this event and the yearly return of the Swallows have reached all parts of the world. . The Swallows Day Parade is one of the nation's largest non-motorized parade. It is a spectacular event that you will want to attend. It is organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. The Parade takes place throughout downtown San Juan Capistrano.
The Mercado Food & Family Fun is open from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
Location: Historic Town Center (HTC) Park
(on El Camino Real, just off Ortega Hwy)
The Mercado Street Faire is a fun event just off the main Parade route where the whole family can go to eat, dance, play, and shop. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of a traditional country music band. Grab a bite to eat and enjoy the band! We have family entertainment and a kid’s play zone in the Historic Town Center (HTC) Park. The awards for many of the parade entrants take place after the Parade at the stage at HTC Park.
Take the convenient Shuttle Bus or arrive early as most street closures are in effect by 10AM. This is a fun family event celebrating the annual return of the swallows. Parade starts at 11AM.
