Is that time of the year and with this darker, rainy winter days, what a better excuse to get out of the house, run those errands that you are procrastinating, get the family a hot cocoa for the ride and look at Christmas Lights! Peeps in Orange County are very lucky with some famous neighborhoods always lit up and other annual lights traditions.  Here's a few ideas of what we have liked in the past:

1. Dana Point

Not only does Dana Point have their annual Boat Parade of Lights ( December 6-7th, and 13 - 14th), but also the Dana Point Harbor has a wonderful themed display with thousands of lights, giant light sculptures and pathways completely lit up. Our recommendation is to go there on one of the Boat Parades, park at the Harbor, walk around and then enjoy a nice meal in one of the local restaurants. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit.  Shopping? All your surf shops and other local stores are open and many have deals!

Also the Monarch Beach area is full of lights, with the three major resorts there also having their own display. They also have open to the public holiday activities like tree lightning or concerts, check out their sites for the specific information. Can't be missed!

2.  San Clemente

Head to Del Mar Street in downtown San Clemente. Beautifully lit, with many shops. Other ideas? The Talega neighborhoods are nicely decorated and many houses compete for the best decor. Best neighborhoods have known to be Stella Mare and Seaside.  Drive around and see which one you like the best! Want to see a tree? The one at the Outlets claims to be the Tallest Tree by the Sea. This one came from Mt Shasta - is truly giant and beautifully decorated. Snap your perfect card!

3.  Laguna Niguel

There is a street full of Christmas Lights where the houses are connected and synchronized to music. 2011 Eider Ct is where you need to go.

4. Ladera Ranch

Many neighborhoods have all the homes beautifully decorated but the one on Bramford Street is the top notch one.  Sleepy Hollow is another  one.

5. Lake Forest

Have you hear of Bob Norris? This has become a staple in Lake Forest. Bob Norris prides himself in displaying more than 40,000 lights that blinking to synchronized Christmas songs via your car radio. He also coordinates with a neighboring house. Head over to 24952 Greenbay Drive, and then to Belquest.

6. Nellie Gail in Laguna Hills

The best of the best for last. This has been a tradition in Nellie Gail for many years, set your navigation to 5473 Nellie Gail Road (this is a must see home with over  100,000 lights blinking to music,  a number of Dept 56 villages on display inside the house that you actually go into) and everything around Nellie Gail Road on both sides off Oso Parkway. Traffic can be busy on the street so allow plenty of time to park, or cruise by to experience this gorgeous display.

If you are driving around and would like to know more real estate information on any of these cities or neighborhoods, please contact us! We would love to help you find your next dream home.
