What is a California Distinguished School?

The California Distinguished School Award identifies and honors those schools that have demonstrated educational excellence for all students and progress in narrowing the achievement gap among student subgroups that threatens their future and the future of California.

In order to be invited to apply for Distinguished School honors, schools must meet a variety of eligibility criteria including designated federal and state accountability measures based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Academic Performance Index (API) requirements. It's really a huge honor to be a California Distinguished School.

This year 2014, Vista Del Mar Elementary School - or otherwise known as the Talega school, got the award recognition - the only school in San Clemente getting this award, and only one of 5 schools in the Capistrano Unified District getting it. ( The other 4 schools are Chaparral Elementary ( Ladera Ranch), Don Juan Avila ( Aliso Viejo), Oxford Academy ( Mission Viejo) and Bathgate Elementary ( Mission Viejo).

For many homebuyers with school age kids, this is huge check in their list when buying a home. Well, if you are looking in San Clemente, that's a perfect reason for buying in Talega among all the other qualities that the neighborhoods of Talega have.

We have many agents specialized in the Talega area. Call us today for a showing, or check out the current homes for sale in Talega.
