With Halloween coming up pretty quickly, here's reminder on some of our favorite Dana Point's Halloween events for this year 2014.

First, don’t miss out on Doheny’s Halloween Haunt! Bring your family and friends to celebrate Halloween in a fun and safe environment with good ole fashioned spookiness, arts and crafts, a fun zone, and an array of educational booths. The event runs from 6:30-8:30 pm and meets at picnic sites A and B. There is no charge for admission; however, a donation of one non-perishable per person is greatly appreciated. Don’t’ forget to dress up those little ones!

Not ready to let go of summer? Come to Doheny Beach in Dana Point this Saturday for a nice beach event.

When: September 27, 2014 6 AM to 10 PM

Where: Doheny Beach, Dana Point.

The Doheny Longboard Surfing Association’s annual Velzy Surf Contest and Luau is a highpoint for Doheny summer surfing, honoring surfing legend, Dale Velzy, “The Hawk.”  The events start with a surf contest between the DLSA and another longboard club on the California coast.  Once the contest is over, everyone retires to the picnic area for traditional luau food, Polynesia dancers and music, contest awards, and then to rock the night away with dancing to a great band.  The event iornia surfing legend and surf board maker, Dale Velzey.

UNDERWATER & ON THE WATER CLEANUPS AND CIGARETTE BUTT ROUNDUP EVENT – Sept. 20

OC Dana Point Harbor is preparing for the 30th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day with an underwater cleanup in the morning, along with the annual cigarette butt roundup and new this year, to complement the underwater and land side cleanup, there will be an on-the-water cleanup program administered from kayaks and dinghies.

Nearly 40% of all debris items collected on Coastal Clean Up Day in 2013 were cigarette butts – volunteers picked up over 217,000 of them in less than three hours. It was the 25th straight year in which cigarette butts were the most littered item in California; this is most likely because many smokers mistakenly believe they are biodegradable, but are…

Festival of Whales Parade this weekend in Dana Point!

Just in time to celebrate the city's 43rd Whales Migration Festival anniversary this year and in hopes you’ll be able to join us for BOTH fun-packed weekends, here's some information about this Saturday's Whale Parade:
