Summer is coming up quickly and if you are, like many other parents, looking for Jr Lifeguards programs for your kids, there's several options and we thought to get them al together here.  Camps range from 8 (or 9) until 14-17 yrs old. They all require a swim test that is more or less the same: swim 100 yard under 2 minutes (some give more time to the campers), thread water for 5 min, and swim underwater for 10 yards and the duration varies from 2 weeks to 5 weeks, half days or full days.

For 2018, we have in South OC:

California State Parks Junior Lifeguard Program

The program consists of day camps, usually lasting three to five weeks, that provide instruction in first aid, CPR, ocean safety, rescue techniques, surfing and bodyboarding. Currently in our area, there's several State Parks doing them: Doheny, San Clemente (at Calafia) and Crystal Cove.

Doheny State Beach: $270 for 2 weeks, full day (9am to 3pm), ages 8-14.
