san_clemente_north_beach_dog_parkFor many years, South County beach cities residents have talked about having a open area at the beach where dogs can run freely and if the city of San Clemente approves it, there would be an beach area that would let dogs run unleashed at a designated acre at North Beach from 4 to 9am daily. This is the area that is right in front of the parking lot that follows the North Beach trail, where dogs are allowed, but only on leash, and not on the sand. This would be as a one year test and will be discussed this following Tuesday.

As of now, Dana Point doesn't allow any dogs on its beaches, Laguna Beach allows dogs on leash on the beaches all winter and in specific hours during the summer months, and Newport Beach is probably the most pet friendly South OC city, allowing those all year long on the beach before 10am and after 4pm.

Dogs are not allowed on any of the 5 state beaches of Orange County, except for San Onofre, just south of San Clemente which allows leashed dogs at Trails 1 and 6.

Dog Parks in San Clemente:

Dogs are allowed on leash at Verde Park, Mira Costa Park and on all city hiking trails. Dogs are not allowed in any other parks. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times and owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs.

The Baron Von Willard Memorial Dog Park, an off-leash dog park is located at 301 Avenida La Pata. The park has 2 areas with separate entrances, a large dog area and a small dog area for smaller or older dogs that don’t get around so well anymore. The dog park is just past the entrance to Steed Park and there is plenty of on-street parking. For Talega homes residents this is very convenient,as it is very close to the community.

Would you like to see if there's any homes in San Clemente that you  might be interested in?
