Summer is just around the corner and kids are about to get out of school= time to find some pools! We don't know about all of the best swimming spots around Orange County, but these are our favorite. Get your swimsuits ready, a lot of sunblock, and be sure to check out ( if possible) all of these spots!Â
1. Irvine Spectrum Splash Pads
71 Fortune Dr.
Irvine, CA 92618
(949) 753-5180
www.shopirvinespectrumcenter.com
Irvine Spectrum features two areas that are great for water play. The bigger splash play zone, by the food court and movie theater, has a large fountain as well as three tortoises that spray water. The smaller water play area near the Target is best for cooling off the teeniest little ones. Come armed with swimsuits, water shoes (to prevent slipping), towels, and snacks and drinks if you don’t want to pay food court prices.
2. Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center
29 Santa Barbara Drive
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
(949) 425-2559
www.alisoviejoaquaticscenter.com
A newer facility in town, the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center has something for everyone: a recreation pool, 25-yard pool, toddler wading pool and splash pad. In addition to relaxed water fun, this center offers fee-based swimming programs, parties and scheduled recreational activities. Additional amenities including lockers, restrooms and an outdoor patio with a toasty fireplace make this spot wonderful for an afternoon out with family and friends. The Oasis Café is also open in the summer. Outside food and beverages are not permitted, and no alcohol is allowed on premises.
3. San Clemente Aquatics Center
987 Avenida Vista Hermosa
San Clemente, CA 92672
(949) 429-8797
www.san-clemente.org
Another newer facilty that just opened this year, there's two new pools,a small pool with a play apparatus and plenty of programs through the week including swim classes, conditioning, water therapy and water aerobics. Visit san-clemente.org for full information. General admission fees to the aquatics center range from $2-5, depending on age and residency. Using the daily fee, each paying adult can bring a child 6 years or younger for free.
If you are lucky and live in the many communities in Orange County that have a home owners association pool, there's plenty of options in any of those, requiring that you are a resident to entry. Â The two communities where the swimming facilities top our list, are Ladera Ranch and Talega.
Ladera Ranch has 6 Plunges (a pool and a park without a clubhouse), 4 Clubhouses (pool, clubhouse and park) and  a water park, and Talega has one clubhouse with 2 pools and a splash area, and another 2 community pools.
If you are in the market looking for a home and would like to know about the communities with pools, please let us know.
Enjoy the fun in the sun !!!
