Lake Forest Homes & Condos for sale
Lake Forest is a newer city in Orange County, as it was incorporated in 1991. Prior to that it was known as the unincorporated community of El Toro and since, Lake Forest has expanded it's limits to include the communities of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills. Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills are master planned developments that brought new homes and commercial centers to the Eastern boundary of Lake Forest throughout the 1990s. Lake Forest (along with the neighboring cities of Mission Viejo and Irvine) is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in the country.
The name of the city comes from two artificial lakes which gave the city that uniqueness and now condos and custom homes surround the lakes. The Lake Forest Beach and Tennis Club and Sun and Sail Club feature tennis courts, gyms, basketball courts, barbecue pits, volleyball courts, multiple swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs and club houses for social events. The "forest" for which the city is also named lies in the area between Ridge Route, Jeronimo, Lake Forest and Serrano road and consists mostly of Eucalyptus trees.
Lake Forest is also home to two county parks - Whiting Ranch Regional Wilderness Park & Heritage Hill Historical Park. Within the city limits, residents and visitors can enjoy tennis, handball, basketball and volleyball courts, golf, hiking, biking, and equestrian, boating and swimming. The city also is home to 20 other public parks.
