What a beautiful way to finish the Summer and get a feeling of fall: the Ocean Institute celebrates its 30th year as host of the Toshiba Tall Ships Festival. This is a beautiful event for those boat lovers and kids, as everyone gets to see and explore real working tall ships, also known as the Pirate Festival - as all weekend long people celebrate by dressing up as pirates too.
There's plenty of activities planned, including:
- Interactive living-history encampments  and demonstrations
- Knot tying races
- Great returning and new musical and dance acts for all ages
- Ship tours
- Friendly 'Pirate School': walk and sing like a pirate!
- Art and the Sea workshop series
Many vendors and food and drinks will be for sale.
When:Â September 5th - 7th, 2013Â (Tall ships parade at sunset September 5th)
Where: Ocean Insititute in Dana Point and Baby Beach.
Remember the Ocean Institute's Parking Lot will be closed because of the event. There's a nearby parking lot, but also free parking and shuttle service will be available at: Salt Creek Beach Park at Pacific Coast Highway and Selva Road.
