We've been hearing about all those whales sightings off the coast of Dana Point...and this annual festival is coming up just in time! The celebration marks the 44th anniversary this year and hope you’ll be able to join us for BOTH fun-packed weekends. The Festival of Whales, is a signature 'small town' event packed with many activities, that include a parade, shows, street fares, classic cars and more.
When: Saturday and Sunday March 7-8 and 14-15th.

The Dana Point Festival of Whale celebrates the incredible 5000-mile migration of the majestic California Gray Whale from Alaska to Mexico that begins in December and continues through March. During this peak season, 40 – 50 whales pass by Dana Point each day, using the Dana Point Headland’s 200-foot cliffs near the harbor as a landmark to check their migration path. Dana Point offers the BEST whale watching along the California Coast .
If you have never been to the Dana Point Festival of Whales, you should really make an effort to come and enjoy the fun! The Festival goes one for two consecutive weekends in March: the 7th and 8th, and the 14th and 15th,starting with the Whale Parade and followed by with many activities and 'whale' related events, including food, movies, and runs.
To start the celebration, the city kicks off the event with the Whales Parade on March 7th 2015.
The Festival of Whales Parade begins promptly at 10 AM with a route along Pacific Coast Highway beginning at Selva Road and ending at Golden Lantern in Dana Point. We are pleased to announce our Grand Marshal Wyland and Community Grand Marshal Jay “Sparky” Longley.FREE shuttle service to and from Harbor parking lots will be available beginning one hour (9 AM) from the parade start time. Arrive early, enjoy breakfast harborside, board the free shuttle and then spend the day visiting all the great events located throughout the Harbor.
