 When our clients are looking to buy a home in the beach cities of Orange County, Dana Point always comes up as a nice town. A client recently asked us - can you give me 10 reasons why I should choose Dana Point? To us there's many reasons, but here's the top 10 we've always thought.

1.Dana Point is still a small town. The city, compared to its neighbors ( San Clemente, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Niguel) still has that 'small town' feel, where people know each other, the population is not as large, and the communities are tight.

2.It's a fun city! The city of Dana Point is known for always organize some kind of activity through out the year. From The Whales Parade, The Doheny Blues Festival, The Tall Ships Festival, The Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, Holiday Boat Parades and the many summer concerts at the park, movie nights and other kids activities, like easter egg hunting, halloween and other holiday activities, the city always has something fun for the entire family. People from all over come to this events, but how great would it be to live walking distance to this many events? 

3.The beaches, obviously. From Capo Beach and it's gorgeous white sands, to Doheny and it's campground and activites, to the Strands and Salt Creek, the beaches in Dana Point can compare to any in the top of the list in the county. All of them have easy parking and facilities - Strands even has an elevator! What is even better is that many homes offer gorgeous ocean views, and for some lucky ones, even white water views, harbor views and Catalina Island views.

4.The Resorts are here. If you are looking for a little pampering and luxury, Dana Point has it too. Some of the nicest resorts in Orange County are located here: The Saint Regis Resort at Monarch Beach, the Ritz Hotel at Salt Creek Beach, the Marriot over by the Harbor,and very close in South Laguna is the Montage Resort. The neighboring cities don't have these type of 5-star resorts.

5.Award winning schools:  Dana Hills High School is a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School, and RH Dana recently won a National Blue Ribbon award.

6.Easy commute: the city has great and easy freeway access from all over. Within minutes one can be in Mission Viejo or even Irvine. John Wayne Airport is a short 30 minute drive, and best of all, Pacific Coast Highway goes through the city, connecting San Clemente and Laguna Beach. It's a gorgeous drive too!

7.The Harbor. For the boat lovers, the Harbor is the only one in South Orange County ( next closest would be Newport Beach). The many activities hosted here are always a plus. Take a ride to Catalina Island and again, within the hour you'll be in a secluded little island, far away from the hustle and bustle of Orange County. Also a great place to visit year round is the Ocean Institute by Baby Beach. Many summer camps for ocean lovers are hosted here and there's always something to learn about our oceans here too. Kids love the place.

8.Outdoor Lifestyle: the city's surroundings provide opportunities for surfing, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, or the many other activities that can be done if you are lucky enough to live by the sea. If water activities are not your thing, there's many parks throughout the city, and a series of trails for jogging or walking. The perfect weather year round makes it easier to be outdoors too. 

9.The weather: fantastic weather year round. It's never too hot or too cold in Dana Point, meaning you can always enjoy the outdoors!

10.Last but not least: The homes. Many of the homes have gorgeous ocean views, and there's every kind of home here too. From small beach cottages, to medium sized homes, gated homes, to elegant estates and beach front homes. Homes atop the bluffs, with golf course views or in communities with pools are also available.

We can think of so, so many other reasons. Like being close to the medical facilities in Mission Viejo like CHOC and Mission Hospital. Like being close to malls and shopping. Like being in Orange County, and in between San Diego and Los Angeles.  But those are our top 10. Are you ready to start looking for homes in Dana Point?
